9. NATHANIEL2 BROOKS (William1), son of (1) William1 and (IP-6) Mary (BURT) BROOKS, was born on 9 May 1664[19] in Springfield[19], and died between 1724 and 1774. He married (1st) in Springfield[19], in 1695[19], MARY WILLIAMS, who was born on 24 Dec. 1673[19], and died on 7 March 1704[9, 19] in Deerfield[9, 19]. He married (2nd) on 3 FEB 1709/10[19], (BG-10) MARY ALLIS, daughter of (BG-3) Samuel and Alice (_____) ALLIS, who was born on 6 July 1682[11]. [3, 11, 12, 17, 19, 21]
Nathaniel and his first wife (Mary Williams) and two children (William and Mary) were taken in the raid on Deerfield, MA 1704. His wife Mary was killed and the two children were never redeemed, but were left in Canada. Nathaniel was redeemed and married another redeemed captive Mary Allis, who is the mother of Moses Brooks Sr. [18]
In the attack by De Rouville on Deerfield, in 1703/4, Nathaniel Brooks and his [first] wife Mary, with their two children, Mary and William, were captured and taken to Canada. While they were on their march thither his wife was killed, and the fate of their two children remains unknown. He returned from Canada in 1707.[19]
